"Shooting Stars. I've had the pattern for years. Recently I went into a tiny quilt shop way out in the sticks only to find that she carried every single Laundry Basket pattern plus the plastic templates to go with them. "
"I got energetic last night and decided to finish up a few projects that have been laying around. My quilt top has been done for over a month, just needed a backing. Also, had material sitting out to make a pillowcase. Did both.
"Well, I just seem to be adding! Can't seem to make my way out to the studio lately. Got together with a friend I haven't seen in a long time and she presented me with fabric. Not a complaint! 2 yds. in, 0 out."
"Visited a friend this weekend who says to me, "I found a new quilt shop for you." Great. We went. The woman has been there for 12 years! I visit this friend several times a year. How did neither one of us see…"
Tell us about yourself—as much or as little as you like.
I am a writer, quilter, seamstress, and knitter. I live in the north but am fortunate to have two of my four children living in the south. I must confess though, I love winter. Skiing, skating, sledding, you name it. I hope to do the luge some day in western Michigan.
How many quilts have you made?
have lost count
Do you want to make quilts, or simply enjoy them?
Definitely want to make. Am working on three right now.
How long have you been a quilter?
since the late '70's
What is your favorite quilting technique?
machine piecing, particularly scraps
Why do you quilt?
I love taking pieces and making them into a whole. Watching how colors work together (and sometimes not).
Hi Jan, I'm not sure where Fowlerville is. I grew up in Detroit. I have a brother who lives in Holly and a brother and sister in Macomb. Michigan is a beautiful state. I have a cousin in Stevenville and an aunt in Benton Harbor. Maybe we will cross paths some day.
