"Love my local quilt shop, but love Joanns best. Just keep those coupons coming in. I got a slew of them for Christmas and am trying to be frugal with them. Found I was a yard short on backing for Grand Daughters quilt because I used a…"
"I've been making hexagons with no actual pattern in mind. I'll play around with ideas when I see what I've got. It's a great way to use up scraps. Got to get out all those orphan blocks and come up with a…"
"I agree with Riana and you both. I think a solid center with some embroidery would look great. Doing one prototype is always a good idea. I've done things that looked good in my head but not so great on the eyes. Great in big…"
"Elizabeth, I love the churn dash, one of my favorite patterns. You sure dressed it up in its city outfit with those center blocks, from country mouse to city mouse. I am making one for one of my Grandsons in red, white and blue with…"
"Karen, what a beautiful quilt. Shows what can happen when you put two basic blocks together, the WOW factor. I sure hope the recipient knows what a treasure it is.
I've had one hip and both knees done and is a whole different…"
"Just when you think you're getting ahead ans have a little more control people give you more fabrics and gift cards for fabric stores. I haven't used any yet, so I am 5 yards in, plus 3 gift cards totaling $150.00. …"
"Jackie, I was wondering if we could set a deadline for people interested in joining this group. I had a great idea for a block i'd like to make, loved yours, by the way. I think St. Patricks Day is a great theme, of course I…"
"Up date on the attic windows. Finished except for the binding, son is thrilled with it so and understands. Will get the binding, label and sleeve on it this week. He has decided to hang it.
Now it will be back to the grindstone for…"
"Still working on the attic windows quilt for my youngest son for Christmas. I have until tomorrow at noon to finish, I can do this, I know I can, I know I can. After the holidays it's back to the UFOs. Please, God give me the…"
"Barbara and Elizabeth, I'm so glad other people hear their UFOs talking to them. I guess that means I'm not crazy, but, then again we may all be. I am finishing up quilting an attic windows quilt for my son for Christmas. …"
"I understand how things go bad after a while, some people just lose interest or life gets in the way. I love swaps of all kinds, some of my most cherished things were received in swaps. I've made some wonderful friends on line. …"
Tell us about yourself—as much or as little as you like.
I have been quilting for about 20 years, I am retired from hotel management. I have a lot of time on my hands, due to some health problems I am not as active as I once was. I do belong to my local guild, local Project Linus group and block of the month at my local quilt shop. I have 7 children, 16 grandchildren and 14 great grands. They keep me pretty busy making quilts, etc. None of them live near us so I do miss that. I love to see what other quilters are doing and I also like to do some swaps, thats always fun.
How many quilts have you made?
Lost count a long time ago
Do you want to make quilts, or simply enjoy them?
LOve making then and enjoy them both
How long have you been a quilter?
about 20 years
What is your favorite quilting technique?
I am a hand quilter, I enjoy traditional and historic best but have done some modern.
Why do you quilt?
Because I love to, it's my way of being creative and the people I give them to enjoy them and that gives me great satisfaction

Gail, feel free to take part in all the discussions. Sometime in January I will be asking to see who wants to participate next year. Then I send out questionnaires. Secret Santa sisters will be assigned usually in April. Then you have all year to work on things for your SS box. We mail them out around the first Saturday in December.
This year we had a couple of contests. There are discussions all year trying to find answers to questions that maybe weren't on the questionnaires. We post tutorials for gift ideas. We have general discussions too.
So welcome to the group. Take part so we can get to know you for next year!
