Happy birthday, Debbie~I hope you have a wonderful day!

Debbie:  All we need is YOU!  We have all the machines, material, thread, batting and a place to make it all.

We have made two Quilts for Kids.  It is a great organization.  Our fabric supply has managed to grow so much that we need to make from what we have.  Of course, we can always send what we make from our own supplies to them too.  It could be another charity we could add to our list.

See you Tuesday, 1-3:30 pm at O'Fallon MO Family YMCA on Highway K.  Ask at front desk for the quilt group or Barbara.

I had a bunch of fabric I didn't want anymore, so I sold some on e-bay really cheap just so I could get rid of it.  I had way more than I needed, plus some of them I just didn't care for anymore.  When I first started quilting I thought I had to have a stash, so at times I bought things I didn't really like all that much.  Now I'm much more careful!  A quilt shop was going out of business in my town and she was selling off her stock for really good prices, so I loaded up.  She was selling whole bolts for $10!!!  That must be so exciting to have found the sale fabrics!  Were you able to get a lot?  I like it when I can find good prices for backing fabrics.  I have plenty of fabric to make lots of quilts, but when it comes to the backings I don't always have the money to run out and buy 5 yards of something.  Especially if it's not on sale!

About selling quilts at shows...definitely the traditional quilts didn't do very well.  Theme quilts, kid quilts and baby quilts did the best.  Also table runners.  You know how some people are just crazy for horses?  Well, it's people like that who buy the theme quilts just because they don't have anything like it.  Those are definitely the best sellers.  I think baby quilts do well because it seems like everyone knows someone who has a baby gift they need to find.  And baby quilts are easy to make since they're small!  Plus, I noticed at gift fairs people just don't want to spend a lot of money, so if you're selling large, traditional quilts it's not likely they'll sell.  But you just never know, so I did I have some there just in case.

Do you have gift fairs or a Saturday market in your area?  Sometimes the booth space is kind of expensive, so the first year I did it with a friend who makes small bags and stuff like that.  That way it didn't cost a lot and we actually made profits!

Hi Debbie!  Thanks for writing back.  I just wanted to let you know that Mona is the one who mentioned having a video on her page; I don't have any pictures of my booth displays (they're all on my old computer and I have yet to transfer everything to my new one).  I checked out Mona's video and most of it shows close-up of her dolls and a few quilts, but towards the end you can see the entire booth.  The thing is she mostly seems to sell the dolls, so it's kind of hard to see how the quilts are displayed.  If you go to the top or your page where it says Quilters, just type her name into the search bar and you can find her page.  Her name is listed as Mona Rae Cich.  As I mentioned on that particular thread about selling quilts, I just used things like a rocking chair, ladders and tables to display them.  I also hand them hung up around the booth (attached to the booth curtains).  I'll bet there are a lot of quilters here who do big shows and have pictures of their booths...maybe you could do a blog post asking how they display their items.  I've only done this three times and I don't plan on doing it again for quite some time...I hardly have any quilts left, and the ones I've been making have been to donate.

Wish I could be of more help!

I see you added some photos!  I love the turtles...that one looks like it was really hard to make!  I hope you'll post some more of your quilts; you do a really good job!  Oh, and I'd love to see pictures of your quilting set-up (and machines!).  Have you received your Ellisimo yet?  I have a frame for my BLQCP (Baby Lock Quilter's Choice Professional), but I hate it!  I'm so used to quilting sitting in front of my machine and I just can't get used to the frame.  I feel kinda bad because it was one of those things I just HAD to have!

By the way, thanks for adding me as a friend!

Hi Debbie!  I just joined here as well.  You sound like such an excited quilter!  I've been quilting for 5 years and for the first 3 years I was soooo excited; it's like I just couldn't get enough and quilted practically non-stop.  I make them for family, to donate and to sell.  I just finished one for "Quilts for Kids" and now I'm working on one for myself (hubby got his a long time ago...now I want one!).

There's a group here for Paper Piecers that you'd probably want to join.  I belong to Traditional Quilts, Scrappy Quilts, Machine Quilting, Designing and Piecing (I've only paper pieced one quilt and that was when I first started).

Anyway, I just wanted to say hello and welcome!
