Hi Cynthia just here to introduce myself and welcome you to MQP.

Some times we are not sure where to visit on this site but I wanted to let you know that I have a group of gals and I that are doing several different quilts the Blooming Nine and the Jewel Box quilts. We are posting pictures with our choices of fabrics and progress. Carla Walton has done several of the Blooming Nine so she is our administrator. Come on over to view what we are doing at http://myquiltplace.com/group/batik-strip-swap/forum/topics/projects-and-pictures?xg_source=activity.

To do the Jewel Box we have a Batik Strip Swap going on and we are using those strips for the Jewel Box. We recently started up a charm square swap with 5" squares of batiks and cottons so if you are interested in that you can go and join at http://myquiltplace.com/group/charm-square-swap?xg_source=activity. Enjoy!

Cynthia, sorry to take so long w/ answer, l was travelling. Yes tge Bailey's a great machine . Mine's the 15". They come 13", 15", & 17". Although l have used it only on a table so far, tomorrow l'm going to alter the wood carriage on my frame to fit it, then try it as a longarm. There's a Baikey group on proboards ( yahoo), and if you join it, you can learn more about them. Some of the members around the country have offered to let people see/try them in action. There's probably 1 or 2 in Ca.The machine is a dedicated quilting machine, no feed dogs. It is all mechanical, ( no computorization...yay!). It comes w/ handle, speed control ( a stitch regulator of sorts is extra), an extra hook assembly ( in case of wear ), and a stylus laser for pantographs. You can get a frame/machine package cheaper than separate purchases. Since l have a homebuilt frame, l just got tge machine itself. Hope this helps.

Cynthia, I am more of an applique type, but I do piecing, too.  Good luck with your future quilting endeavors!  I enjoy both hand quilting and machine quilting.  I think I am better at the hand quilting, but I am really trying to improve my machine quilting.  I took a class last summer at the Sewing and Quilting Expo.  That and practice is helping a lot.  If you want to learn free-motion machine quilting, check out Leah Day's blog, The Free Motion Quilting Project.  She is awesome.

About me:  I've been quilting since the early 1990's.  I'm raising 3 boys, so I don't have as much time as I'd like.  I do design my own patterns.  I have one in the current Quilts from Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks Spring Issue, too.  Fun!  I also try to garden, love nearly all types of music, have 2 cats, and today is my Anniversary.

Have a super day!
