Iowa Quilters

I think it would be a nice idea to list the Quilters by state, so we can connect. We recently moved to Coralville, and I would love to find out about the quilt groups there. Could anyone help me out, thanks

Oh!  I just realized you are talking about my picture in a frame!  Sorry about that.  It is actually done by my great-aunt.  I have to think it's close to 75 - 100 years old.  You would not believe the hand stitching on it.  Tiny, straight, even.  My mother inherited it and always wanted something done to preserve it plus be able to see the work from both sides.  One year for her birthday my brother and I had it framed in glass so that you could do just that.  I do not know the name of it.  It has since been passed to me.

Thank you, Carolyn.  I'm trying to remember which quilt I posted.  The one I am thinking of is called Lovina's Flowers, something like that.  Michigan has been very mild this winter however this week we had very low temperatures.  I love winter sports so that's not a problem as long as the wind is not blowing.  I do a lot of knitting so I have plenty of scarves, hats and mittens!

Hi Carolyn,

glad to have you as a friend. We are not related, that I know of, to your friends, but there is a larger contingent of Annises in the Northeast that they may be a part of. I've done the geneaology on my husband's family. His father was an only child and turns out he was from one of two lines of Annises that came to America about the same time, but unrelated.

My daughter taught me how to shop the linins years ago,I have built so much of my sewing from g.w.& s.a.  my elastic drawer is filled with every size you can imagin the same with binding, seam binding ,twill tape and zippers.the same with just regular material. some times I will find a really nice mans shirt and cut down to womens blouse. I'v also bought a lot of flannel that I use for backings. But my daughter is still a better shopper than I am.

Thanks for the nice compliment Carolyn. The pattern is in the Jan/Feb 2013 issue of Quiltmaker magazine. You could probably contact them to see if you can buy a back issue. The pattern is called Latte Love. The designer is Angie Stevenson of Scottsdale, AZ. Her web site is lunchboxquilts.com. Good luck.

Good morning, Carolyn.  I have made 3 or 4 quilts with houses and trees.  Most of them the house and tree patterns are from different places, the setting kind comes as I go after I build the houses I decide where I want it and what kind of tree I want close to it.  Which one did you want to know about?
