"Jeanne--I too, love the strip around the outside you did with your quilt. I've been trying to decide whether to set the pieces according to plan or change the order of them and now that I've seen your border, I think I may be following the…"
"Thanks Weeks and Bill for the fun project—just the right length of time!
I'm glad my binding is already made! I may have to do my "seaweed and beach towels" setting I talked about earlier, but I want to let it simmer a bit…"
"re wooden pressing tool: I notice there are two types—one that looks like a round dowel that's been sawed off at an angle, and the one I have that is shaped a little more at the business end; kind of a square with a slanted side…"
"Lyn--I'm glad you commented about open vs closed seams. I thought I was just being "old fashioned" by not wanting to press the seams open (see a previous post several pages ago). I think that you are correct in saying it's just…"
"Nancy--When I was in Sisters, OR this summer for the quilt show, one of the local quilt shops in Bend (forget which) had thoughtfully placed a HUGE tent/awning thingy over their front lawn with about TWENTY "man chairs" (and a cooler of…"
Yes, I think a trip to the beach would be nice. It was foggy in SFO when I was there two weeks ago for a quilt show in the south bay, but I did see seaweed at the ocean. Maybe that's what triggered that image for my quilt circles!"
"Thanks Chris and everyone else for the compliments! I've been wondering how we will be putting all this together. I noticed that when I had the three circle strips all lined up side by side, that it looked like seaweed swaying back and…"
"Sharon, my background is actually a yellow-green (like a green olive you eat). Here's a closeup that has a pale yellow, hot pink, a yellow-y orange, and a fuschia-y/purple circle for comparison. The strip down the middle is regular orange…"
"Just finished getting my blocks in order. Turns out I had to TAKE OUT two of my blocks because even with trimming them down, they were too long. I don't mind! Confession time—not all my seams are pressed open! I think I might quit…"
"Tina - your colors, especially in the little square patches, remind me of a Starbucks mug I have in those exact colors. I held it up to your pics and they look so alike that I wish I could reach through my computer, hand you the cup and say,…"
Hi Carol, Welcome to "My Quilt Place". I'm just down the interstate from you in Vallejo. I love mystery quilts, so I'm having fun so far with this one, and am looking forward to the next "installment" on Wednesday. I like your reason for quilting... "to stay sane"... that works for me, too. I mostly make art quilts, but am currently working on a couple of traditional pieces right now from recent classes I took. I love taking classes - DH asks me, "How many classes are enough?" I don't have an answer to that one! Hope you'll post some pictures of some of your quilts when you get a chance.
