2012 Quest Completed

Posted on February 26, 2013 at 6:16pm 2 Comments

To update everyone.  I am glad to say that I finished all 120 UFOs for 2012.  I finished on December 31, 2:00p.m. with the very last one, including the binding.  i was so very thrilled.  So worth the effort.  Now to get busy on this years quest, finishing all my photos in their albums.  The sad part is that I have not even started.  Still working on getting quiltiing done.  Yep, quilting is a stronger passion than the photos.  I have a little one graduating this coming year so I need to have…

November and counting down

Posted on November 14, 2012 at 1:03pm 3 Comments

Well, here is the middle of November and I am at 99 for the year.  I have three customer quilts to finish, three Peppermint Twist orders to fill, and 21 more UFOs to get done all by end of year.  God is good and He has not let me down so far.  I know that there is an end to this task and I must stay on track to get there.  I have so appreciated the encouragement and wonderful comments on the quilts I have completed thus far.  Now to move forward some more.

My UFO Quest

Posted on September 17, 2012 at 5:33pm 2 Comments

This year's New Years Resolution was to finish 120 UFOs of my over 130 then stopped counting projects.  It has been an uphill battle.  Some months it seems to fly by and I amke the 10 set for each month but other times I miss the mark and have to make it up the next month.  This is one of those months that I am having to make up 4 more on top of the 10 I expect to do.

If you would like to see the finishes thus far, you may look in my photos.  This all started when my daughter helped…

Hi Beth just here to introduce myself and welcome you to MQP.

Some times we are not sure where to visit on this site but I wanted to let you know that I have a group of gals and I that are doing several different quilts the Blooming Nine and the Jewel Box quilts. We are posting pictures with our choices of fabrics and progress. Carla Walton has done several of the Blooming Nine so she is our administrator. Come on over to view what we are doing at http://myquiltplace.com/group/batik-strip-swap/forum/topics/projects-and-pictures?xg_source=activity.

To do the Jewel Box we have a Batik Strip Swap going on and we are using those strips for the Jewel Box. We just started a Charm Square Swap of either a Batik or 100% cotton at http://myquiltplace.com/group/charm-square-swap?xg_source=activity today to use with our Jewel Box Quilt project. Just come on over to join and then you can decide if you want to swap or just do the quilt projects.

hi...reading posts betw you and deanna. question...where is cheney? east or west side? just curious, live in granger about 40mi se of yakima. we'er not washington natives, so not sure where all the towns are that we hear or read about. your garden worm thing caught my attention ...things are so hot & dry here. but too cold for too long last spring, dh w hip replace...sick animals...i am throwing in the hoticultural towel, i think, for this year. cannot keep up.

ah the think thing lollol.. yah i tend to over think. make templates..change my mind...yah, overthinking can really do me in. like you said, go for it..get it done. i don't know if you are going to hand or machine quilt. but esp since you plan to show it, i agree w having at least a basic plan. and having such a fantastical arrangement of color and shape, i agree with having flow fr center design outward. movement. i like to try to work "movement" into my quilting. makes it more interesting to view. i don't do shows, i really have a hard time w schedules...unless it is a work schedule. i quilt for the sheer joy & pleasure of it. i worked hi stress for years...my quilting is not to be a stress source. work on my place gives me all the stress i need lollollol!!!

don't know what design method you use, graph, eq type or wing it...i use all three, i usually have a colored graphed drawing of the quilt...and when thinking about quilting ideas (which i am doing the whole time i am constructing..even change the block patches sometimes so i can work in an idea i got while sewing hahah)..anyway..i have used a thin piece of clear vinyl layed over drawing to play w ideas for quilting. is even easier now w dry erase pens and washable crayons, unlike when i came up w this idea yrs ago.

...just got home fr vet...got some watering done this am...so now i get to play. making a "prairie princess" sock monkey, and while playing on mqp yesterday did a bunch of search stuff, & i found a couple of sites w really good info for making pattern for authentic prairie sun bonnet for my little monkey. fr in europe finally got her 1st gr child. fr loves stuff about american west & american indians. ..so since so much of our early western history involved the central praries... oh, left out a bit...i like to make costumes for my sock monkeys. one for fam member was a clown, turned out so cute! but mama wouldn'let the child play with it, she didn't want it to get "ruined" !!! but pol won't let that happen...we figure that oma and gramma can make & repair..that is part of the fun! right?!?

and on those outer stars on the border? the line dancing and pebbleing sounds like sich a neat idea, but don't count on that area not really going to be seen. lollol there are always those of us that like to zoom in on photos and ck every little tiniest detail. thats how i learn.. some great "ohhhh, ok, i see now! that's how it's done!" moments over the years. esp at quilt shows. i can't & wouldn't touch a quilt displayed, but a photo of area of interest to me, then on my pc...edit & zoom..& learn :))

hi beth. i have been following the ufo posts. loving & admiring the finished projects. not a member, so coming here tomyour page...the quilt you just finished for your daighternis incredible, & incredibly beautiful. so full of life. and the plan you described for the quilting is wonderful. i love intricate quilting, and tho when i was first learning this quilty stuff i learned that i am supposed to mark the top then quilt it. tried that...i kept changing my mind as i went along. then i saw an article in q newsletter years ago about a noted japanese art quilter. when asked about her method of marking the very very intricate quilting motif, she said, i just do it as i go along, i don't mark the whole thing at once. what you described for the different areas of your quilt reminded me of that article. i will try to wait quietly till it is finished and you post a pic here of it. :))

oh...hand or machine?

Happy birthday, Beth~I hope you have a wonderful day!

I'm Bridget and I live in Seaside, Oregon.  I joined this site at the end of April so I could meet other quilters; I don't have a guild to belong to and I'm the only quilter I know, so it's great getting to know others.  Joining some of the groups is the best way to get to know people; everyone is so friendly and helpful!

Anyway, I just wanted to say hello and happy birthday!
