Tell us about yourself
I always wanted to make a quilt out of my son's baby clothes for their wedding presents. They are now in their 30's (and single still), so I thought I should learn how to quilt!

Crafts have always interested me - hooked rugs, crewel embroidery, and I am an avid rubber stamper. My husband says my homemade greeting cards are about $80 each! LOL!

On a personal note, I am a Christian and very involved in my church; am a Stephen Leader; work at a local church part-time; sing in two choirs, and absolutely LOVE my free time!
How many quilts have you made?
10, two were collaborations
Do you want to make quilts, or simply enjoy them?
Make!
How long have you been a quilter?
Started in 2011 with the purchase of a new Baby Lock (Grace)
What is your favorite quilting technique?
Too new to say! Learning Machine Applique and loving it!
Why do you quilt?
To create and share my creations with others. I have given them all away!

Lexi's Quilt Fabric

Posted on November 25, 2012 at 7:02pm 2 Comments

Shopped this weekend for fabric for my granddaughter's wedding quilt.  She's getting married in May, have to have this done by February.  My friend and long-arm quilter, Vicki, suggested the pattern Take Five and was kind enough to up-size (is that a word?) it from twin to queen.

SO, since I was out of town and had a different fabric store to go to, I did!  And I found all these great fabrics...what do you think?  Lexi wanted a black and white quilt, with maybe a touch of teal or…

Bungle Jungle

Got the squares and border sewn on my (hopefully) last baby boy quilt, made with Moda's Bungle Jungle charm packs.  I fully intended to use my new Twister tool to deconstruct this, but thankfully before I began I realized it would have been a wall hanging if I did that.  SO - just another run-of-the-mill (where did that saying come from) baby quilt.  Planned to sandwich it and begin quilting it today but...well, it was a challenging day, to say the least.  Perhaps next week?…

well...hmmm..i dunno. after being w/o a full time job (except for my "forever" job...my house & acreage) for a number of years. i think i would welcome the opportunity to be back in the workplace again. hubby & i were taling about this a few sunday mornings ago, i miss the cameraderie, the mental stimulation, all the stimuli that i don't get here, hauling rock or dirt. digging holes or trenches, cutting brush yada yada yada....plus a job would pay better! lollollollol!!

so...i think congrats are in order. and i so, extend them to you.

..and another nice thing about a job ...paychecks... money
..i like to eat!

oh my!! DON'T!! check up o me...lollol....me & the puppy just woke up fr long afternoon nap lollollol..so hot out yesterday i feel like i may work one day sleep the nxt thru the rest of the summer at this rate. i am sure that there are many out there this year who can relate..the heat just drains one so. had thought to stay in today & finish up one thing st stitching on another, got most of my applique pieces cut out lst wkwnd, and they are still sitting untouched in a baggie!! lollol i know what you mean though about moda. thier colors are so pure and true..fabric perfect wt too, i think. long time fan of moda. i like red rooster and some of the others but i will ck moda before i ck others. but that is probably, too, why your quilt just basically grabbed my attention so. at any rate..i feel that my commentsare justified. there needs to be an innate feel for the ability to combine colors. i was told early on by a q bk author that saw one of my amish style quilts that i have a good eye for color. dunno..but i so know what i like..and i will shamelessly blurt it out on a public forum w/o the least blush!! lollol

learn...thats what it's all about. i take pics of my process as i go along. yrs ago i read that when putting wip up on design wall...or bed top lollol .. look at it thru cam lens...helps w determining value placement..and for correcting if needs. i found it to bee really helpful idea when working with a variety of colors and prints. not sure, but when you said the name of the pattern it sounded familiar, it came fr a mag, right? i think i saw it, was unimpressed & prob didn't keep it! lollol but your fab chouces gave the pattern a definite wow! factor. please do take and post pics of front and back! esp after your description of the back. and by all means, if your niece wants to be in the pic too...great!! also i bet she would love to have a pic of her standing with the brand new version of a quilt that she is sure to treasure for years to come..hey it's a memory..one she can look at and say "yup..it was a lot brighter back then, but i still love it!"

have a good one ...
