Serving Others

I think this description is in my "Quilt Place" album of photos, but just in case it isn't, I'll repeat it here because it's a really great story of God working through youth and quilts...

Our amazing Christ the King youth go on a Group Workcamps mission trip every summer. For one week, each of our youth is assigned to a different work crew that does home repair work for a resident who can’t do the work for him/herself, whether for physical or financial reasons. This year they went to…

Up for a challenge?

Posted on April 24, 2013 at 2:27pm 0 Comments

I've blogged about being an improvisational quilter...taking "mistake" out of my quilting vocabulary and considering all such incidents that previously might have been called mistakes to be, instead, serendipitous opportunities for design change. Yeah, well, this clearly suggests that quilting can be an unexpected (and perhaps undesired) challenge sometimes.

This isn’t exactly accurate, since true “improvising” would not involve any preparation or plan on my part.  I always have a plan – maybe not a pattern, but definitely always a plan, or a picture, or a solid idea in my head, or something scribbled on a napkin…literally.  Despite its inaccuracy, I like to use this word because saying “I’m a screw up” doesn’t sound very nice and “I’m a reevaluative quilter” doesn’t flow as smoothly, if reevaluative is even a real word.

Hi Angie just here to introduce myself and welcome you to MQP. Some times we are not sure where to visit on this site but I wanted to let you know that I have a group of gals and I that are doing several different quilts the Blooming Nine and the Jewel Box quilts. We are posting pictures with our choices of fabrics and progress. Carla Walton has done several of the Blooming Nine so she is our administrator. Come on over to view what we are doing at http://myquiltplace.com/group/batik-strip-swap/forum/topics/projects-and-pictures?xg_source=activity. To do the Jewel Box we have a Batik Strip Swap going on and we are using those strips for the Jewel Box. Just recent we started a Charm Square Swap so if you are interested you can go to http://myquiltplace.com/group/charm-square-swap and join in its fun.
