"Weeks, Thank you for your input!  I'm really enjoying your and Bill's book, The Modern Quilt Workshop. It made me understand what a "modern" quilt is and the real freedom it leaves me to create."

ahhh yes....a gathering of happy quilters escaping from the drudgeries of life...throw in handfuls of pizza, donuts, cake pie...ok some "healthy" food too...hmmm....nope, can't think of any ..sure to have the effect of loud chatter, silly giggles amd some serilous ...er serious work on q projects.

i know christine has started the modern quilt mystery, but i think the nieghbors are flocking to join because christine/aqs throw really great mystery quilt parties. no..i don't join. time thing. but would like too. went thru the rotini one and looked at all the finished quilts..awsome pattern & quilts. i get that magazine, so have the series to do when/if time allows. but, i guess my point is that you are the first member i have seen post anything about the "modern quilt movement". ergo...i don't think the majority understand. but as extreme as some of the quilts are that i have seen in online group posts, there are quite a few also that are quite pretty. and i am sure aqs will not intro something too drastically "modern".

maybe we should have a discussion thread started here on mqp w links to some of the groups starting up around the country. other than the one in LA, yours is the first i have encountered that is in real time world not cyber world. don't know if you have done any exploring in the "gallery" ..button on header of every page you open here, there are too many to go thru one by one. i use my ipad...stretch the screen..scan thru and open in diff window interesting looking ones. there are some outstandin quilt artists here. professional and some very talented non-professionals. so i think that a "modern quilt" discussion thread might attract a few of the more artistic bent when it comes to quilt design. this may sound a bit odd as an idea coming from a self professed "traditional" quilter. i like old.... stuff, designs & quilt patterns/quilts. traditional. but i love hearing about & reading about new ideas & directions. so..when i saw your comment about excitedly anticipating your first meet with group for "modern" quilt thingy...i jumped in and did my "wow" thing along with usual sp errors that my little touch screen toy interjects into my every written post lollollollol!!

thanks for the reply, and keep posting here about your adventure, w pics of course.. ?a blog? be nice..easy to follow you then. i intend to follow the mystery q thingy..i am a "lurker"...i am not a member of that group :)) .. or several others that i follow. just interested, tho i did finally fall in with the ufo crowd..several of them i have freq exchanges with elsewhere on the site, and inspite of my contiued protestations that i have no ufo's...just vswip's (very slow works in progress) they did a garden thing..pulled me in..i think it was a trap..dunno..but am suspicious lollollol!

sorry to write a book in response to your polite & simple response to my little blurb o your page. but i am a wordy one lollollol

...and i don't "facebook" "twitter" "myspace" & tho i started w flickr sev yrs ago that was for my photography..and that was pretty much what flickr was about, but now when i am searching for patterns or techniques, many of the links take me to flickr where people are posting pictorial "turotorials". interesting. no, i try to blog, but never keep up with them. do a few photographic things online, but mostly i am doing more just quilting sites like this one and quiltboard, quiltchat etc. so explore this place...the main page..is the place i go to follow along if i don't set it up for email notices, look for new pics posted of members quilts etc, the discussion bar at left of page is fun to follow along. if you click on "forums" in header at top of any page it will take you to all the "discussions" that have been started..some old ones still get hits now and again. all in all..this site is well put together i think. more fun than quilt board, but the tutorials at quilt board are the absolute BEST!! and the way they have it s
