...having a "dead" day...not gonna get much done today but sleep, rest, sleep, read, sleep.... lollol but i have a "whooohooo!!!" moment for you, evelyn. found a page on marti michell page ...excerpted fr her block encyclopedia...bottomof page in link..last block shown..."christian cross"....no pattern yet...but it will be easy to draw...it is just strips & squares set on point. also, it will probably be in my blockbase program. if so, i could get it from there for you. i am finding tons of stuff on net for this block, & my "reading list" is filling up rapidly w historical quilt research sites. quite frankly i am having a ball here w dozing puppy at my feet, kitties sleeping here and there ...the birds are really loud this morning... ..so, again, thank your husband for the request to you that you posted here and that has resulted in my delightfully fun search adventure. i prob won't post anymore unless i find the actual pattern. if you find again the pic that started your quest...post and i will search it's info if needed. :))...i so love the net.

thanks riana, stole a few minutes fr chores to search...but images would be my next search area...they don't always give patterns, tho. the link below shows a christian cross pattern done by kay england. the next link is for a search page of images, fr which i got the england image. another issue i have with images...they will post pics of everything that has keywords in the title...ergo..on thes pages,as any image search, there are lots of things that aren't even close to the search for "cristian cross quilt block", in fact there are quite a few images of cross stitch items.... but the first few pages have several done sorta scrap fasion, albeit not as beautiful as kayes quilt pictured in the first link.

Thank you Vicki, my husband wanted an all black and white quilt but I was determined to add a little color and the red stripe gave me what I needed.

Evelyn, I have made the blocks from one of those mentioned by rogue quilter, it was from www.patternsfromhistory.com  "Far above Rubies" and it is has great patterns, the blocks are beautiful when finished. I just need to add my sashing and put them all together. If I get a chance I will post some pics for you to see.

Evelyn, if you go to Google's home page, click on the word "images" then go to search box & type in "crosses, quilt patterns". You will see a gallery to chose from.Click on any for pattern/info. There is a Red Cross quilt 4th or 5th row that could be modified slightly for a more Christian cross.

Thank you so much for your quick reply...some time ago I saw a quilt with a cross in the middle...I think it was made with log cabin blocks...but it was just a picture of the quilt,,,not a clue how to get the pattern...I will keep looking...in the meantime I will look at all the sights you were kind enough to send me..Blessings..Evelyn

hi evelyn. i read your post and thought i had seen this block ... i have several block compendiums by various authors. but since i am fixing dinner...it is in the oven...& i am playing w my ipad i just did a quick search here.

http://doveinthewindow.com/harding_chimneysweep.htm ... block illustrated in antique quilts w several of the names for the block. at bottom of page are the authors sources for data for her article. very very good.

http://www.patternsfromhistory.com/bible_quilt/ .... bible blocks

...this mext page i have saved to my "reading list" on ipad...one of my fav pages, to read & do research....

http://www.womenfolk.com/quilt_pattern_history/biblequilts.htm

the name has a wonderful sound to it, tho the block itself is rather plain..you will read that it is very old and the older blocks did tend to be quite plain. but with scrap quilting & other ways of working the block it could be quite lovely.

good luck ..and tell your husband thank you for giving me more stiff to look up (my most favorite activity!!) on the net while dinner bakes. ..:))

Really nice, love the thin red stripe, sets off the blocks nicely.
