(sigh hit wrong button...not a good omen for the day lol)

....."side rotary" ?? non of these are terms i am familiar with.

..has thread cutter...what fun! till it wears out

..has needle threader, akward (sp) to use, but works...for now

...knee lift will be very handy for quilting...but for now it is in my way, so took it back off.

...yes lollol i DO love tech and sundry toys...tools & equipment. i use to make jokes re: my work...was i in it for my love of & ability to help fellow humans ....or the cool toys ...which are even cooler now, i learned while sitting at dh bedside in hospital after his surgery.

i plan to do more than just play w it today, we'll see how the l'il darli'n will do with an all day long sunday sewing marathon! well...at least till i need to start the bbq ... and of course, after i get off pc... lol

Good choice for you, Rogue. The liquid response ft. eliminates that "hesitation" I've learned to deal with on mine, and the side rotary is handy to reload bobbin without shifting sewing around so much. Also, no fancy stiches to distract you, (because we all know how you love to play with gadgets). You'll love the knee lift & push button thread cutting..does it have a needle threader? As I get older I appreciate that more all the time:)

hi riana! andnyes i did! and i am sew happy with it. have had a fine working necchi that did clothing, household and quilting etc etc. was just fine and did an excellent job for over thirty years...never had desire to upgrade to more modern. but issues developed & last week i decided i needed to start looking for aomething that i knew would fire up and run and continue to run as long or whatever...found a new janome 1600p qc on craigs list from a "local" seller. local in this area being any thing east of cascades, and west of idaho lollol. i am amazed in the changes in machines that has occured over the past three decades. albeit, this new machine is not of the same genre as my old necchi domestic machine. it is still quite a leap in ease of use and options. very very happy with it.

Sew, Rogue, you got a new machine???

Comment by the rogue quilter on September 7, 2012 at 8:02pm
sorry...no! i absolutely love this machine. it is perfect for piecing etc. speed control options ..three...are incredible. been running in and out all afternoon, moving water..back to my new love. playing...setting it up, practicing... lollol give m'ol blue beasty a loving pat in passing...don't want her to feel set aside.

my old one...the necchi. it started racing. no speed control.i tried spreading contact points in pedal, it seemed to help...then it just went crazy, so. i am now thinking that the variable speed thingy whatever in the motor, or brushes (too simple :(( ) ..something wrong in motor. here, even the repair shops go online to hunt for parts fr manufactureres etc. friend had her new bernina embroidery monster in shop in town ~80 mi east of here w bigger population base/customer base...and she was w/o machine for weeks and weeks waiting for parts. that is why i decided to hunt for another machine with a price i can handle. still getting bills in fr hubby hip thing. but i just have yo have a sewing machine. esp w christmas sewing time here now. sorry for the confusion.

what do you mean speed control issue? you should be able to adjust it with one of the buttons on the side there to choose a slower speed. won't it do that?  yeah, it only does straight stitch, that's why i got a step or two up. but still you let yourself get use to it and i'm sure you will be pleased. :) plus fast quilting! i use mettler and gutermann but i'm sure what ever you choose will be fine.

hit the wrong button and it launched! probably means that it is good that my new janome doesn't have all the buttons yours does! lol

was going to say, if they can't fix the speed control issue w me 'ol buddy, i guess i just have to cross m'fingers and jump back on craigs and look for something cheap & simple. 'cause my fw only does straight also.
