thank you both, yes I love scraps and that is why I used white for the background, I thought it would show off the scrappy colors really well.  I have another one that I have not quilted yet - it is red batik with a butter cream batik background - I will get it hand quilted one day.

Karen, it is beautiful.  I am afraid I would never have enough lifetime left to even finish something like this.  I wish I would of started earlier in life, as I am 67.  But I get enjoyment just looking at this quilt.  I have one quilt almost finished but let me tell you there is tons of mistakes.  I am glad it's for my great grandson.  He'll never know the difference.  lol   Have a wonderful time quilting.  Sonjia

Sonjia this quilt took me about 4 or 5 years to complete.  I pieced it by hand off and on over 3 years or so then it sat aside for awhile before I hand quilted it.  It is a Dear Jane pattern - you can find the book here http://www.dearjane.com/

me too - I always seem to have 2 hand piecing projects going and one applique - a crazy quilt has been on the list but I have never gotten started on one - doubtful I will

Karen, I so agree, I always have two or three hand work projects going. Right now it's a king size yo-yo that's almost done, a blue and brown scallop for my brother, and an old fashioned silk crazy quilt. I get bored working on the same project every night so I keep a few going.

thanks Viki - hand stitching does take awhile to do but it is relaxing to do while watching tv and not have a sewing machine going

worth every minute it looks like. I have two hand stitched quilts going but as soon as one is done.. you've inspired me to get myself in gear and get one of these made, the book has been sitting there all lonely for way too long.
