lollol....oh yes, i can see us all now, the rest of humanity will be packing thier bags, rounding up the kids and critters, packing all into thier interstellar yaghts, in preperation for thier move to that new subdivision down that wormhole just opened into our intergalactic neighbors latest development in the andromeda galaxy. and we quilters will be..oh dear! must redo that seam, another cup of tea anyone? i can't take my stash? well.....then i'm not going. well, ..i don't care if the planet is dying around me! i am not going to leave all this lovely fabric to just get ruined when the sun goes nova!! i just won't. and besides, i still haven't finished my star burst quilt, i am entering in the next hoffman solar storm challenge, you know. and then there.....

well, that is how we are, we quilty people. on the discussion of "i can't die till i've used all my stash" my friend responds ..i am taking it with me! ... ?? .. well, i will just tear out all that padding in my box, have my kids just take all my wool & fabric & just tuck it in all around me. be ever so much nicer than that padding would be. she also just missed out a few years ago when kaffe did an appearance somewhere in holland, she has his autOgraph that a friend obtained for her...one of her most Treasured treasures :).

i will check out that link. i also, whilst doing one of my little searches one day few months ago, stumbled upon michael james website. i have a few of his books, design studies with coloe and his quilts. fabulous talent. his is bright like kaffee but more linear, more solids and hues less brilliant.

...oh, and i have to do this quilt...i may not go the 3" block route...be so much fun to use tetris shapes. one of the first arcade type video games i fell in love w and spent far FAR too many hours playing.

now it's diamond mine or one of it's other iterations like collapse :))

If ever you get the chance to go to a Kaffe Fassett workshop it's a wonderful experience although to see him smiling like a Cheshire cat at his book launch is a bit of an anomile as he is a diva as well as a genius. Brandon Mobley however who does the workshops with him is helpful, kind and generous. My friends and myself went to a workshop in Cornwall : :www.cowslipworkshops.co.uk and we all really enjoyed it. Jo Colwill at cowslip is a wonderful quilter herself and all the workshops down there are amazing. Check out the website. We all made a quilt from his book with tuition in the church hall. I made this with the scraps I had left with the addition of a few more pieces of his fabrics, setting it all out stuck to the wadding and appraising it from a distance of a few feet as he does. It's all 3" cut squares. I would highly recommend a lesson with these people to anyone. Amy Butler from Rowan was also there as she gave a talk. When I finally finish making union jack quilts for my boys I'm desperate to start something with Michael miller fabric. Also have you heard of spoon flower in the USA. They do some amazing stuff. Oh I think I need to live forever to make the quilts I keep planning!

sigh! cait, cait cait!! lollollol...he started doing his amazing explosions of color in quilts at least 20 years ago. i too knew him as a producer of the most wonderful knitting patterns and i too have several of his knitting patterns. before knitting tho i believe he was a painter. he has just got to be one of the most gifted and talented artists of our time. and since he moved into quilting, he has done so much to share the inspiration for
his quilt & fabric art as he's gathered ideas from cultures around the globe. one of my heros .... hmmmmm... well. i guess i shouldn't be so harsh, not everyone has been following this remarkable individuals giant footsteps through all the art venues he has traversed.

sigh!! kaffe fassett, mmichael james. just two of my forever faves in the quilt world.

Saw this on your website, love it by the way, (quilt and website) and read Kaffe Fassett - fabric used, shows how out of touch I am, thought he designed only knitwear, mind you that was over 20+ years ago, not too hard to imagine he has branched out since then!!!
