My mini quilts have mainly been "artsy" types of quilts simply because I don't know how to go about piecing small quilts. I usually design my own patterns for lap sized and larger quilts, but it…Continue

Comment by the rogue quilter on April 29, 2012 at 10:12pm they are wonderful fun cynthia. i took a class from sally collins several yeas ago after seeing articles about her and her quilts in some of my quilt mags. i was hooked. tho i never finished the mini that we started that day...it is on the surface of the pile and is a joy to work on. in the interim i have done a few others. i have been told by some that mini's give 'instant gratification' ...hahaha...not the size i make...and besides i so love the process...and the tininess...i don't paper piece...so far no need...i am currently trying to finish a small pink and green...all kinds of pink calicos with dark green in 16 patch [cut one inch w/1/2" finish patch size] had planned an irish chain idea...love that pattern...but playing on eq decided random chevrons...the more i think about it the more excited i get - and have gone from lets hurry up and finish for this summer quilt show and plan to finish it and hand quilt it...so...maybe q show 2013...assuming we're all still here that is...lollollollol
Comment by Cynthia Wilson on April 28, 2012 at 11:03pm I just came back from Paducah where I saw the most amazing miniature quilts in the AQS Museum! There was a gentleman there named George Siciliano who was demonstrating his miniature foundation pieced blocks. They were unbelievably intricate and simply perfect. He made a special ruler that lets you trim easy to 1/8th of an inch for your seam allowances. I am so smitten with these little quilts i am going to give it a try!
Comment by Garnie P. Bethea on February 29, 2012 at 10:29am Hi Bridget,
I just learned to paper piece, imagine that... So I thought I'd join this group. I found an email where someone made little 2 inch blocks and put magnets in them for refrigerator magnets. My brain was overheating trying to figure out how to make a block that size. Paper piecing was the only way I could think of. So here I am.

There are some pretty fabulous little quilts here. My little quilts are usually used as table toppers and other decorative items in my house. I have made wall hangings which are a bit bigger and of course made two smaller quilts for my grandson, Tyler, including the one "Camo-Frog" for his birthday this last August.
