UFOs

If you're a REAL quilter, you have at least one UFO (unfinished object) and one WIP (work in progress) stashed in the closet or stacked on a shelf. Maybe you just need quilting suggestions, or maybe a fresh eye from a new online friend can help with block arrangements. How about a UFO swap? Any UFO conversation is welcome.

Sadly, not enough fabric for backgrounds but the hunt is on for the perfect fabric. Want to go shopping?? lol!!

So, Barbara, is there enough fabric in one of those shirts for your quilt? Lol...just kidding :-))   Yes, a pale aqua or even a print with white background & pastel aqua small somethings on it ...or your embroidery idea. I'd stay away from the pink...if white is too crisp, I'd go for cream, butter, or pale aqua.

Yes! Gail. I had something in mind but just didn't work played out.

Kohls was having a big up to 60% off mens dress clothes today. My hubby was in need of some new dress shirts and I was amazed at what I was able to find. Two of them the original price was $45.00 and two of them the original price was $50.00. I had a 30% of coupon and a $5.00 rewards taken off. According to the reciept I saved $163.46 and my cost was $9.01 on 4 Van Hussen shirts. Hurray!!

I agree with Riana and you both.  I think a solid center with some embroidery would look great. Doing one prototype is always a good idea.  I've done things that looked good in my head but not so great on the eyes.  Great in big pieces but noso good cut up i little pieces.

I agree Riana, I keep looking at it and thinking that there is just not enough contrast in this fabric. I think I have some light pink but don't know if I have enough or not. Bethi's room has two pics in it with these colors. But no pink in it. Maybe it could be a white, soft blue or soft aqua solid back ground. What do you think? I  just might go back to having embroidery on a plain center after all. I'm glad I didn't put together more then one block.  Maybe I should stick with white back ground and simple embroidery in the center?????

Barbara, if you replace the center pinwheel with a paler aqua on some squares, you could embroider that. Do you think there's enough contrast to see the churn dash? Maybe it's just the way the camera picked up the prints.

Elizabeth, what a shame you had no company ( or even someone to set those tubs up on a table to save you bending). But you can't blame folks for heeding the warnings... no one wants to spend the night in a ditch.

Today I spent the day as a volunteer for QOV.  I put fabric together for kits.  It was very hard on my back going through many tubs of donated fabric trying to find pieces big enough and also coordinated in colour to go together in a quilt.  In the last hour and a half I sat down and cut 5" squares.  I was the only one who showed up in the morning.  One other woman showed up at lunch time.  The weather was considered too bad to venture out.  Next Thursday we'll meet again.

Riana, this is the fabric I received in the layer cake. The colors in the pack are blues and aquas. I thought it would be to busy for embroidery, but maybe not ! I will do embroidery on another project.

Thank you for the information!  I'll cut 4 x 15 for my Swiffer.  I just measured it to be sure.
