If you're a REAL quilter, you have at least one UFO (unfinished object) and one WIP (work in progress) stashed in the closet or stacked on a shelf. Maybe you just need quilting suggestions, or maybe a fresh eye from a new online friend can help with block arrangements. How about a UFO swap? Any UFO conversation is welcome.

Yes Riana, I am an early bird! Hubby is up at 4am and out of the house by 4:30. So I just stay up. On days that I work I would be getting up at 5:30 anyways so there is no point in going back to bed lol

I'm all in for 2 Thanksgivings! I love Turkey :) And it looks like I will be blessed with 2 Turkey dinners next weekend!

Right now I am trying to get a few things ready to enter into the last Fair of the year in our area. Some quilting, some sewing, some baking... lets see what I get done!

Hi Rogue,

There isn't much you can do to persuade your FIL to live closer to you.  He needs to make his decisions in his own time  if he is competent.  I let my mother decide when to come to Ottawa to be near us.

The coordinator of the valve replacements phoned me today and she will phone us tomorrow for a 1/2 hour interview to save us from going in for another pre-op.  She may have a time slot for Oct. 2.  That would be soon.  We are ready.

What a wonderful idea, Mary!  I like turkey too

My younger son and his wife are leaving work today and driving to Mont Tremblant in the Laurentians to celebrate their 2nd anniversary tomorrow.  It's a ski resort with nice boutiques and a spa.  Lisa likes spas and I don't know what Jim will do there because all he likes to do is fish!  We invited them to dinner with us but it will have to wait for next week.

Tooth is numb and dentist says it may be sensitive for a week or two.  I'll try not to be too much of a baby. LOL

Mary, funny you should mention that! We just bought a nice turkey on sale at the " No Frills" grocery...l cooked it, we have had a meal of it already, and now l have lots frozen...white meat for sandwiches ( hot or cold), and dark is chopped & mxed w/ stuffing for turkey pot pies...yum! Hubby & l celebate here with family, and this year we'll have another with our friends in Fla., as we're leaving a bit early to do house repairs ( lrma).

With three Canadians, does this mean we get to do two Thanksgivings??  I'm hungry for turkey already.

Back to you, Carol!

I looked on your page and noticed that you are Canadian too!  That's so great!  Now Riana and I are not alone.  So glad you are here with us.

Good Morning!

I have just had my walk outside in the sunshine and did the groceries.  I also bought a roll of kraft paper with which to wrap a box of surprises

Today I finished my UFO review and my sewing room is ready to be swept clean!  Hooray!  I made a list of what I have left - 30 UFOs.  Easy Peasy!  I also finished machine quilting my Caravans Quilt and have cut and sewn the binding.  I would start pressing it but I have to get ready for a dental appt. after lunch.

I can understand why you would find it hard to watch the series on the Vietnam War, especially if you know someone who served.    So much suffering and death is documented.

Welcome Carol!  Riana and I are the 2 Canadians in this group.  But she spends almost 1/2 year in the U.S.  I count all my friends here as my "Besties".  My neighbour above me has a sister who is one of Canada's best art quilters and he is always saying why don't I make art quilts.  I like to gift quilts so the size I chose is always lap/throw/crib size.  But they end up uniquely "me" even when I start out with a pattern.

i'd like to add my welcome too, carol. i have 3 'Works In Very Slow Progress' ..if i find time for quilting, knitting etc in the spring/summer/fall months's a surprise & a treat. winter is for sitting & doing the things i love. winter when there's no hiking around the place changing water, fixing sprinklers, drip lines & broken pipes; no mowing, pruning, vegie garden, terraforming or picking fruit. but by august i am sooooo looking forward to snow time & a couple of months of 'me' time to quilt!

Ahhh, and an early brd as well,Carol!  My UFO bin is now pretty much empty...but there was a time when l had a cedar chest full of them ,( not just quilting projects...knitting and needlepoint too.) Over time l kept working at them between other more time sensative projects ( wedding & birthday gifts). I call it my " swiss cheese" method... a bit of time spent on an older project earns me time on a newer one. But l know it's hard when you need to steal time to sew. My sewing room shares the l spend a lot of extra time " doing laundry", lol!

And here I thought that I could just sneak in here un-noticed LOL  Thank you for the wonderful welcomes Riana and Linda!

Yes is certainly was hot yesterday! We had a volunteer BBQ and I was surprised that people actually came!

As far as quilting, I am into art quilts, in that I am trying them. I am not very good at it, because the one that I have done still looks more like a traditional quilt - I would love to be able to do the abstract kind of thing, but my brain just doesn't want to go there! I have way too many UFO's - I need to stop seeing new things to do and try and experiment lol I did almost get one finished last weekend, so perhaps I will make an attempt at getting it finished first. My days are so full that I have a hard time squeezing in any 'me' time, so I think I need to change that!

I am looking forward to seeing what all you have been up to, and making new friends! Thank You!!
