If you're a REAL quilter, you have at least one UFO (unfinished object) and one WIP (work in progress) stashed in the closet or stacked on a shelf. Maybe you just need quilting suggestions, or maybe a fresh eye from a new online friend can help with block arrangements. How about a UFO swap? Any UFO conversation is welcome.

Linda is his Kidney functioning well? Doe he have a UTI?

Sure wish he would get well.

Oh, Riana, I forgot to mention that I can live in my mom's home and then rent my home out. Each day brings new messages.  I am upset a bit in that my aunt, my mom's sister wrote me a tacky letter. My step dad has stage 3 kidney disease, and a UTI right now. My aunt and another cuz are accusing me of not caring and that I am not allowing my mom to spend time with him because  as they say " He is near death" ! Really??  I guess they know more than the doctor's do. The doctor said he has 2-3 more years unless something major happens. Then my aunt got mad because we are talking to lawyers to help him qualify for long term care... but he might need to come home- so I will be doing a lot of the work. I am not getting any support in this matter from that side of the family and I can tell you that unless you have knowledge of this type of situation, it is a whole new "world.  She also accused me of not calling his brother so he could see his dying brother" ... really, I have called him several times and he will come down here as soon as we say it's fine.. which it is. I am doing my best to keep all informed only to be told I am so terrible... and the thing is, is I allow my mom to read what they say to me, which only brings up her blood pressure and makes her feel bad. So, no more updates. I thank each of you who some I have met or just became friends on here and have supported me in all of my though process. Deciding to move is hard and my mom might move my way, everything is up in the air. I told my Aunt that we will do what ever is best for my mom and what is best for my step dad. They have him in the ground- I see him as a living person who deserves to live the best he can and who knows what and where that will be. I take him dogs up to see him each day and that just brings him so much joy . My mom is not strong enough now to hold the dogs nor do many things.  Thank you for listening to me... just had to rant in a safe place.

So sorry to hear things are still not good, Linda. Prayers continuing for you both.

We were hoping so too, Riana.

We had had his Barium study x-rays sent out to a specialist to see if he finds anything that could have been missed. We are still waiting to hear back from him. Meanwhile the vet heard Indy's cough more today and his tongue is sticky, quite warm, and blue and she's wondering if he might have a collapsed (or prolapsed) (with my hearing I don't hear all words correctly) esophagus. She wants to wait until  we hear back from the specialist. We may have to get a chest x-ray or some other tests to see his esophagus better. His appetite is good, but he just won't drink unless it's mixed in the food. We just can't understand why. I'm trying very hard to keep it together and I know falling apart isn't doing him any good, but it's hurting me to see him so sick. I feel totally helpless. My friend Jan came up this weekend, so that helps a lot.

Oh dear, Linda...l'd so hoped you & vet 'd found a remedy that works.

Sorry, went to reply and had to run to Indy. He is sick again. Vet coming early afternoon. He is dehydrated again. I did get some puppy milk in him, but only other fluid he's getting is what I'm mixing in the food totaling 2.5 cups a day. We increased it to 3/4 cup 5-6x daily. Guess it's not enough.

Hmm, Linda, you must've been whispering softly...we didn't hear you. How is Indie doing this the new diet helping?

Riana, Thank you for that post. That is the way I feel, I will give up on my "wants" to have the time with my mom. She is worried about her husband and we will take one day at a time. I told her not to worry about more than what needs to be done right now. I told her if we want to move to be closer to family later, or even now we can look at all options. Change is hard regardless of what it is. I have lived in the same place for over 18 years and I will miss my friends and neighbors, but your right.. there is phone and internet.

Mary, my grandkids between 6-8 liked using one of those loom knitter devises, sort of like corking, but on a larger scale.

Zoe, don't buy, just rent in Fla., ( lots of places available and cheaper for a year than monthly,)and spend the time with your mom. You can keep in touch with friends on line , using fb and facetime. After my mom passed, l spent a lot of time visiting with my dad. When his time came, l felt no guilt. l was glad to get to know some of his friends & neigbours, and  to have been a part of his last years.
