Julie, just for a bit of fun, you could use one of your machines fancier stitches to complete the binding from the front. We never seem to use our machines to the fullest capacity.Test some out on a scrap & see what you come up with:))

former co-worker referred to it as "instant gratification" tje quick results thing was all she would commit to. :)) ..she did small...lots & lots a small...lol...i don't think that in the few years we worked together that she ever ever did a bed sized quilt. small to large wall hangings only. no applique, no paper peicing. "instant gratification"..her working anthem! :)) she was so fun, so funny and soooo very talented. all she did was perfect & beautiful.

Aha!  I'm so glad to know that others have the same problem as me...being a perfectionist and trying to quilt.  Definitely have to just keep moving forward or I could sit and obsess over the littlest thing.  Cutting and piecing are just so precise, or the whole thing is off, and I can literally drive myself crazy at times!  I'm learning, however slowly, to just "go with the flow."  I also have to keep reminding myself that it's not a race.  I'm the type of person who wants results yesterday.  Right now my main interest is in making small applique quilts and projects so it helps me get some quick results to satisfy that quirk.

Stephanie, I'm such a perfectionist, and quilting really pushes my buttons, sometimes. <LOL>  However, I keep telling myself that the Amish go out of their way to MAKE mistakes, because only God is perfect.  Believe me, God has nothing to worry about, from me, on THAT score. <LOL>

Bernice, I signed up for your blog.  I LOVE your Glamper quilt fabric!!!  As a former RVer, I wish I'd found it a few years ago. <LOL>  I had a 35' fifth wheel, so maybe not so "glamorous" but home for 5 yrs.  That quilt would have been perfect!

That is how I put binding on anything that I do not want to hand sew.  I even do it for my quilts at times.

if it's good enough for pretty pot holders, julie, i seeno reason it wouldn't be ok for sewing machine cover.

don't forget to post picsof your pretty. also, somewhere in my more recent posts, there is a pic of machine cover i made for a friend last year.

Hello Girls,

I have a small problem.  I am currently making a sewing machine cover.  I have just finished the cross hatching on the pocket front.  As I'm still relatively new at sewing and quilting I am asking for some assistance. I would like to place the binding on the back side first then folding to the front side of the pocket, pin in place and then machine sew it all down.  Thus no hand stitching is required.  Is this okay. I would appreciate any assistance or pearls of wisdom.  Many thanks Julie Beard.

Stephanie, I'm certainly not an experienced quilter--more of an advanced beginner--but I must say, in my own experience I always make mistakes along the way! I also know of advanced quilters who make mistakes. As you mentioned, you just correct and move on. It certainly is a learning experience and in spite of it all, I still love it! You have a great attitude!
