i have neither lots of yarn or lots of time ...so i do what i do. i too am self taught in knit, crochet, needle point, crewel etc etc. i used to do a lot more different forms of needlework before i found quilting. this is in double sided knit in color blocks w sashing of still another color. white on one side, heather tones on other side. straight stitch. will be very pretty - someday. i need to find some more yarn. finally found a nice yarn shop here but she has limited inventory. will look elsewhere when we take trips.

this is why i make super simple afghans, just great big super simple granny squares. i basically use triples of triple stitches. i am self taught in crochet, so not sure of all stitch or design names. but, i make lots and lots of my afghans and people think they are pretty. i like them 'cause they are soo simple, thus fast. i make them as gifts for the new babies at church, as well as many of the weddings. not to mention giving them as gifts to family and friends for various events. go through a lot of cotton yarn ;-)

Yes, there's always christmas. or first birthday. or... :)) thank goodness.

i still have an afghan working on...rarely. but now it is just nice to have something quiet and easy to pick up. keeps the hands busy & lets the mind wander. no hurry to finish it :))

I'm working on a baby blanket for my niece; granny squares. She is having a boy, due in May. I don't think I'll have it finished. There's always Christmas.

I've just found this group, am busy crocheting granny squares for charity blankets for the elderly with my local group. But what I really love to do is crochet lace and would appreciate anyone who can help me with some patterns. They just don't seem to be where I look or am I looking in the wrong places. Any help would be appreciated.

Haven't been here a while, and see lots of new members. Recently l started knitting another shawl, but in a new-to-me pattern stitch. lt worked up nicely, but was waaay too wide( noticed after first ball of 3 expensive varigated yarn) So l set it aside, started the second ball, but in different pattern st. l persevered, even though l didn't like it nearly as much as the first pattern stitch. Made a decision. After 2 weeks off work...l've ripped out ball 2 project, and, using ball 1 pattern as guage will attempt the original pattern again. Yes, l'll eventually have to rip out that first one too, likely, to get the yardage l'll need.

This goes to show you how important a guage swatch is...even on a shawl! l know better, too, snce l've been knitting since l was 10 yr. old!
