Iowa Quilters

I think it would be a nice idea to list the Quilters by state, so we can connect. We recently moved to Coralville, and I would love to find out about the quilt groups there. Could anyone help me out, thanks

Rhonda, thanks for the information but I'm afraid I won't be able to make it. Keep us posted with any additional ones you host.  It looks like fun!

Happy Easter to all of the quilters on this site, so fun to see what you all are doing. Right now, I am crocheting, and getting ready to move, so quilting is on the back burner.

Thanks for all the suggestions!  Can't wait for my next trip to my daughter's so I can check them out. The Sewing House in Ottumwa is good.  They have a very extensive selection of Batiks.  Bonnie, have fun with your new machine!  How exciting.  I'm working on learning to machine quilt with my regular machine.  Just quilted two fabrics to create a quilted fabric for a organizer for my Mom's walker, and I quilted a lap quilt with stitch in the ditch.  Both ended up really well.  I am excited to try more.

I'm planning a quilt retreat either the 3rd weekend in July or the 3rd weekend in August. I'm looking at West Union Iowa or Rose Cottage in Marion Iowa. Anyone interested in getting together?

I have 4 people interested and coming so far. It will depend on which place fits our needs and which is available those times. Let me know if anyone is interested!!  It will be a Fri to Sun event and mostly just bring your own stuff to work on. I can teach some of my methods if anyone is interested.

I bought a Janome Horizon 7700 (1 yr. used) at The Sewing House in Ottumwa last week.  So excited... love it so far.  The store has LOTS of Janomes, and a wonderful sale going on until Mar. 31.  It is a very well stocked store, (notions, attachments, batting, thread) and some nice fabric choices.  The free motion feature of the 7700 is virtually effortless compared to my other machine!

Connie's is at 785 8th Avenue. If you stand facing Cottage Rose, it's the next street (Cottage Rose is on 7th Avenue) and about two blocks to the left.
