Sew & Meet's

Quilts for Kids is a 501 © 3 non-profit organization.  It is only through donations that we are able to fulfill our mission to transform fabrics into quilts that comfort children in need.  Our Indiana chapter is located in Lafayette, Indiana, but will provide a quilt, or welcome a volunteer, anywhere in Indiana or out of our state.  For more information about the organization, visit www.quiltsforkids.org or email me at caseqfk@yahoo.com.

Our quilts reach kids of all ages, from newborns to age 22. Therefore, if some of the fabric looks a bit sophisticated, it may be going to young adults who have been battling these illnesses for years. Even though they are older, they still need comforting.

Our sizes are 30ish to 50.  We try to make them 45 x 45 just makes things easier.  Needs to be 100% cotton or flannel.  Do not use invisible thread.  No hand quilting of anything, (this includes binding).  Low loft batting.  No embellishments.

Make your New Year resolution to join in volunteering.

We had a very exciting and successful fundraiser Saturday.  We sold lots of used books, handmade crafts, and homemade baked goods.  It was a great day for our group!

Welcome Paula to our new group.  Glad to have another.  Still new and growing.

If you know of a group in your area that does charity quilts would you get the info to me.  I am recruiting through out the state and haven't made it to the Fort Wayne area yet.  The Chapter includes people even out of state contributing in creating smiles for ill children.

I am so excited to say for the calendar year of 2013 we delivered 1035 quilts, and 329 of bags, preemie quilts, tied blankets, and scarves to Peyton Manning Children's Hospital, Child Protective Services, Women's Domestic Abuse Shelter, Community Clinic's.

I hope we can do even more for the year 2014.
