As many of you know, we experienced a flooded basement this spring. This necessitates a change in the drainage so it doesn't happen again...so while we're at it, we're taking apart the front walk,…Continue

Gardening is my second love, after quiltmaking. The two are SO different! Gardening is lots of hard work; quiltmaking is pure pleasure. And I'm perfectly fine with taking six months off from the…Continue

I think there are a lot of people flooded out....like those in Missouri. Did you see the picture on FB of 2 thumbs up sticking out of a "puddle"? It said we in Ohio are Ok! Think we've had too much rain? There's flooding everywhere!!!

Linda, we use a cistern to save rainwater from our rooftops...but it' s full & excess is pumping into yard too. Thank goodness we had drainage around house altered after 2014 flood..it may just have saved our basement this time.

Folks in Ottawa area and Quebec province are being flooded out of tgeir homes...they need our prayers for safety.

Riana, looks like you are growing a lake! Too bad you can't put that in a bunch of rain barrels to have on hand when the summer dry spell hits.

Oh no! Rain, rain, rain! The 3 pumps in oursump were just barely keeping up. Biggest one failed...hoping to keep others running. Hubby' s using the fire pump & hose to empty the lake on our lawn where the septic bed is.

In spite of a week of rain which is continuing, the iris are still in full bloom. Had to take the photo from the door since it's raining too much to go out.
