Reworking the front entry gardens

As many of you know, we experienced a flooded basement this spring. This necessitates a change in the drainage so it doesn't happen again...so while we're at it, we're taking apart the front walk,…Continue

Gorgeous irises, Linda. Mine are just emerging.

1/2  of the veggie garden intact, but full of topsoil from other half. I can't use it for veggies anyway...l need it to temporarily plant those shrubs.

Middle photo: reblooming iris along front steps; will rebloom in August

Bottom photo: reblooming miniature lilac, Josee. First year it has bloomed this well. This is as high as it should get.

OH NO! Riana, so sad you had to take out the 30 yr old lilac that was about to bloom! Hope you are able to save the 6 shrubs. Are you able to save any of the veggie garden?

Unfortuneatly, we're " ungardening " again :-(( The huge 30 yr old lilac , just about to bloom, was chopped to 18". The veggie garden burried under a ton of sand & bolders. And the big willow bush next to deck is gone. But they WERE able to save the deck by digging under from both sides. The one front garden will be drastically altered, but not completely destroyed. I will be trying my best to save 6 mature shrubs after they're dug out . Foundation waterproofing HAS to be done, though...our basement got wet from seepage this year.
