HI, I am a new quilter and just love it. I love the Carol Doak paper piecing and am in her online group. I am also going on a cruise with her in March I am excited and trying to learn all I can.

To Lynda Smith-you can find some paper piecing/foundation piecing patterns on line.  I also love the books by Carol Doak-she usually has a disc in with them that explains the basics(you can find her books often discounted on line and I often find them at Half Price Books).  A special 1/4" ruler that you can find at quilt shops really helps.  I also use Carol Doak's special paper.  Good luck.

Thanks for the insight into fabric selection. It sounds less intimating, now. I am on Facebook but I don't use it much. I will look for you. This site is more interesting and informative by far over Facebook. On Facebook I have "liked" a few things, for example, quiltworx and AQS, etc to get updates on what's going on with them.

The way we picked was to pick a fabric for your outer border. Thenpick three backgrounds varying in value from lt, med, and dark. The you'll go on to pick accents for the various blocks. It's like a mystery quilt..you won't know what it'll look like until you start laying it out. One of my friends didn't even pick all of her fabric until right before the class on most months and I have been known to add/change fabrics before the class...are you on facebook? If so friend me and you can see my GCs there, as well as some of my friends. Have fun!

Becky,I'm sure I will enjoy my class. I would love to see your color combos of the THREE quilts you are making. Please post pics when you can. I'm not sure what colors I might want to use.I will know more after I meet with the instructor.

Lynn, you will love the Glacier Star class and your quilt! I love mine, in fact so much that I am doing two at the same time and may do a third one. It's kinda addicting. One is done with pinks, oranges and greens and the other is strictly a
blue batik one. Hope you enjoy it as much as I have!

Hi Everyone!

I just updated my website which includes my calender of where I will be teaching my one pin technique for New York Beauty Simplified quilts.  My website (for my long arm quilting) is www.twocountryquilters.com.  My brand new website is almost ready to go live....I'll keep you posted...It's quite dynamic.  I am reviewing the final draft today.

Hi everyone. Awhile back I mentioned that a Judy Niemeyer class was coming to my area. I actually signed up! It starts on the 25th of Oct. The teacher will be at the QS for assistance in fabric selection the 17th-19th. It's getting close and I am really looking forward to it. I've made large quilts before but they were very basic and the quilting was what took center stage. Mariners compass is my favorite block which explains my love of points. I hope Glacier Star will be as much fun to do, as it will be rewarding to have such a great quilt in the end.

Foundation piecing or paper piecing is my favorite kind of piecing although I do all types of piecing.
