Latest Activity: on Thursday
Hello to all the Florida quilters! Do you have a favorite quilt store, pattern or technique...let us know...I'm a novice quilter so I for one would love to hear what you have to say!!
Started by Pat Waters Apr 29.
Hubby and I will be moving to Florida in about a month. Looking for shops, groups, guilds just about anything quilting. We will be living in the Palm Coast area. Continue
Hey everyone, " Margie's Sew Much Fun" in Crestview Is having a big anniversary sale starting this Sunday (April 28) at 1 p.m. 42% off the first yard of fabric, then 25% off the rest of your purchase. Everything else, notions, books, machine accessories, is also 25%off. If you live close it might be worth a trip. The sale goes on thru May 4. I don't have a 'ball' in this game ( LOL ) just thought I'd let you know. It is a wonderful shop.
Suzzi, good luck with your class. Once you finish you will be amazed at how easy it is and how it makes 'hard blocks' simple to make. i.e. stars, New York Beauty, etc.
Hi Ethelda, welcome to the Florida Quilters Group. I just received and email from www.craftsy.com that there is a new beginner paper piecing class. I think I'll sign up and give it a go... the class covers 4 different block patterns.
I became a transplanted Floridian a year ago. Came here for the great weather and NO SNOW. lolol Have been quilting for a few years now and that is what takes priority over cleaning and cooking. It is a good thing that hubby likes to eat out. For Suzzi, I love paper piecing. Please give it a try. Start simple and you will love it.
I have not done paper piecing as of yet, but I do want to give it a go as well. I just have so many pressing projects that need to get done. Please send pics and let me know what you think of this technique... I've talked with several quilters and census is either you really like it or you don't... it's definitely a personal preference.
Have yall tried Paper Piecing? I'm giving it a go..piecing a star block for a xmas quilt my mother in law wants to make..I will try and post a pict when I'm done...
I'm a transplanted Florida Quilter been quilting 30+ years, art quilter 20 but recently discovered the traditionalism again. So now my brain is in full twist on the traditional quilts.
We became empty nesters in 2010, we still have 2 puggles at home.... they are 1 and 2 yrs old....long time before they head off to college!!! HaHa. My daughters room has become my sewing room overflow... not that I'm complaining though. It's amazing how much 'STUFF' we accumulate as quilts wouldn't you agree? My husband and I try to go to St. Augustine at least once a year.... love the area.
Are you familiar with the "Groups", I joined the following 2 groups and I'm having a great time meeting everyone. - Batik Strip Swap Group - Charm Swap Group >>> New group spawned from the Batik Group.
You should check these groups out... you send in 12 2 1/2" strips and/or 6-5" charm squares of a specific color collection, everyone that participates in the swap receives a surprise collection fabric back in return.
Hi Suzzi, I have only been quilting a few years since my last chick flew the nest...I really never really thought of the "empty nest" syndrome until then lol.. I have always loved the idea of making quilts and I find it very relaxing and quite rewarding when I finish one. I live in NE Florida, a few miles outside of Jacksonville..I really don't have many LOS near me so I am always looking for them when I travel..My current project is a "star quilt" for my mother-in-law. What are you currently working on..
