I've just been watching a number of videos on using Cricut for cutting fabric.  I've stayed away from getting one because I thought you had to use their cartridges for the designs.  Now I see that…Continue

What a nice sentiment Rogue.  I love that my fw came from my good friend.  When she is gone it will be something to remember her by.

I agree with Diane about the light to dark scrappy blocks.  Then you could always add some large pattern of flowers depending on the color  of your blocks.  Like large Sunflowers, or day lilies.

Diane, if they're scrappy, you can use a dark to light type of layout across the quilt. Then, you can do the same with the applique in the border.

My quilt guild is having a block swap (there will be 21 blocks in my group--scrappy batiks pieced blocks).  I'm looking for suggestions on how to lay out the block and then I also want to add applique somewhere, possibly on the border but can't decide on anything that really appeals.  Please help me with your suggestions.  Thanks in advance.

I agree, I love the Quilting world because of the People,  everyone is nice, helpful, and I have never had a problem with payments, 13 years of quilting and never had a bad check.  I am working on a block of the month Applique  quilt through the Fon's and Porter sight, with the applique group their called Country Cottages and Fantasy Flowers.  I am really enjoying doing them.  Have a good evening. One more thing, I got a Feather Weight 221 yesterday on e-bay.  I cannot wait to get it, She needs some cleaning but seems to be in good condition.  Will get here next week.  Will let you know.  Have a good evening.   Lynn

That sounds like the perfect day to sit and applique.  We have had two beautiful days and now we have rain, thunder, and lighting.  So going to do just what you were doing sit with my coffee and Applique.

i don't hate applique the borders, but i do tend to put off that part of the project. don't know why. i love applique and seldom have a quilt project that includes applique. that said i have had two lovely days spent basting and apliqueing a border for one of my current wip's. have to say, saturday was the best. built fire in a.m., the sound of the howling winds just made me feel so cold. and set down with tea and fabric and needle. sun in afternoon, sounds of howling winds worse than in a.m., the sounds of the crackling fireplace, warm at last sitting with my back to the sun coming thru deck window. sitting there with this mix of sounds and feelings emitted by the natural world, as i sat and appliqued little spring flowers on a day when it seems that spring has left our world forever... .... what a day.

just had to share it.
