i agree w mary, this was quite a while ago. they did run the pattern in their magazine. i started to save it and decided to pass. i would also rather use a book or print rather than video. i like to refer back w/o messing w a video progress counter.
lisa are you thinking of doing the AQS baltimore style rosemaling pattern? i've saved it, as it came out & had hoped to start a block before now. my mil is half norwegian & i thought a table runner or pillows for her couch. she's not a color personality so i would use less intense color. the only rosemaling item she had she gave to me, a decorative spoon set that her father acquired on a trip to his parents hometown in norway many years ago.
last issue had the last block & the assembly. i don't plan a quilt yet ..really would like to use a couple blocks for pillows or ??? for my mil. if i do a quilt i would reduce it for a wallhanging. i think the patterns look much simpler & less complex than the 1857 blocks.
i didn't see the piecing the past medallion ..i'll have to search for the site etc. i don't worry about doing things the way i'm "supposed" to do ..the Rogue in Rogue Quilter :)). i use a large needle as a stilys (sp) ..the tooth pick didn't work for things like very small leaves, very narrow vines. and i taught myself reverse appliqué after i first saw it in quilt show yrs ago, but it's been years since i've done any more. i'd need to practice it now, before commiting to a project.
