viki - i think you may be right in your assesment! lol

jennifer - mocking birds are another eastern treasure we don't have to sing for us. :((
Comment by Jennifer Schifano Thomas on Monday

We had a mockingbird that would sing right outside the bedroom window early each morning, then we moved 35 miles to the North.  We still have a mockingbird that sings right outside the bedroom window early each morning.  :)

I'll trade you.. I'd rather have the eagles and hawks. My neighbor across the street has a half dozen bird feeders in her yard too.. and then she puts those fake owls and crap in her garden (the other side of her driveway) to keep them out of her veggies... I think she may be a little bit crazy.

...an there ya go! braggin' again.... i have lots of birds here. my son teased me at one place we had lived at for a couple of years. "birds follow us mom. there were no birds here when came and now the yard is full of them!" i always set up feeding stations asap. but western birds, for the most part, just are not as colorful as eastern and midwestern birds. i have bald eagles, red tailed hawks and a few other raptors. but not the colorful little song birds like cardinals. even our orioles are less colorful. oh well...i cannot even imagine waking up to a world of silence. love my birds, colorful or not.

I have a hedge/bush/tree/mass of green stuff that grows along the back of my yard by the water and a massive tree in my front yard.. it matches all the other trees down the block.. so we have LOTS of birds, I wake up to them and sometimes can't sleep because of their chatter all night...but it is fun to see the spots of bright red and blue popping in and out of all that greenery.

oh how i miss the cardinals and eastern blue jays. my favorite birds and frequent visitors when i lived in NJ & PA .. i agree w you viki, any pic is better than no pic. i set up my cam & tripod...thought i was so smart. i had never had to deal w double pained windows before, even clean windows and the shot was not good. but i got mom & dad and their youngins' perched on the bean pole in garden!

Ginnie, love that cardinal fabric in #15. This morning I looked out my window and one was perched on top of my hummingbird feeder, lol. I got a picture through the window but it's not very good. They are always moving so quickly it's hard to get a shot of them at all, so I'm happy I got one at all.

I know many of you did not think the Ducks (or Duck Butts as my quilt partner and daughter Becky calls them) went well with the Broken Kites but we have decided to go with it.  I am waiting on one more cross stitch border from Becky the whiz kid cross stitcher and then I can wrap this one up and get it sent to Emily!

12 days ahead of schedule...count 'em...12 days before my deadline of May 31, 2013, the 15 quilt tops are finished.  I'm exhausted!  Okay, one day off (maybe) and then I start stitching messages, numbers, dates and my signature on the backs and then we go to pinning.  Yeah!

Here is #15, a very quick nine patch flannel quilt I am calling. "Christmas Postcards from the Edge."  The edge of what you ask? Why, insanity, of course!

More photos in the albums!

The window air conditioners are installed - I am all ready for summer quilting!and yes, I do make all those quilts in this little room.  Usually, I take over the dining room for quilting and while I will do that for pinning the quilts, I will quilt here.  I have re-arranged the table to make the quilting possible.  Excited to be moving on to the next step!
