in this blog i have met my idol. i have been both infamous & famous among those who know me, for my parsimonious ways. in other words i make cheap sound expensive. sigh! so glad to have found at last...a kindred spirit! have spent the afternoon doing my usual serendiptous reading chain. at least that is the name i put to what i do for fun on days that i am too incompacitated to do anything else but read. look up a word/term/whatever i have encountered in my reading. that little "look-up adventure" leads to another & another...did you know that kristen stewart...ahem! awright! so i wander off the path a bit too lollol!!but, weekend guest has gone home. late night visiting, early mornin' fruit picking, followed by late breakfast that included desert of another successful experiment...sweet! lollol ..& now i have been "reading with my eyes closed", a dh exageration regarding my tendency to have my eyes closed whenever he asks what i have been doing - response "reading" & then he finds me "reading with your eyes closed". !!humph!! just resting them, i retort. but, this afternoons' eyes closed oddessy (i can read...never said i could spell!) has yieled a multitude of links saved to reading list, tutorials, quilt & craft blogs. yes i do make file w files w files ad nauseum. here is the frosting, for me :)), on the afternoons written wanderings.....blog roll please!!...oops ..drum roll please!!..

frugal sewing

thanks lora. all the links to free quilts, knitting patterns...started exploring..many free patterns aren't really very good. but her links..there was one for doll making too. did you ck those out? must confess, i followed the link to it fr another blog i had been reading when it was mentioned. because i figured if the title had "frugal" in it it should be fun. after all, modern quilters are anything but frugal, just as the ladies who developed the incredible baltimore album style. ...and it turned out to be very fun indeed! so bkmked..under SUPER blog subfolder in fav blog folder :))

missed the doll making one, but I've saved so many freebies on that topic plus I subscribe to Soft Dolls & Animals.

i know what. you mean! sigh...told my hisband yesterday, he came in as i was saving another page to the "reading list" on my ipad, told him that i could not die until i read all the itms on the reading list ...and then read them again till i had exhausted all leads to follow, all searches related to.... and then there are the free pattens saved in files on bookmark list ...pincushions, quilts, totes & numerous other "stuff" that would be perfect to make, use up scraps, let me use the pretty fav i collect...

...have friend that told me she is not going to worry about using up all her fabric before she can die...she is going take it with her. going to tear out the satin & line her casket w it! didn't ask what she planned for all her patterns lollollol!

Rogue, looks like you're starting a long list of "to reads". I have a batch of saved needlework "ideas" & such on my file. I looked the other day & found that the list went on&on. Now I've decided to spend 15 min.(or so) at least each evening when chores done to read, then delete or take short notes. The info's no good if we never access it & use it:)

i am a collector..information - esp w the advent of the net.

and....what you say is oh so true, my friend. but in this heat, "after chores" i am too dead or eyes too fatigued by bright day..yes glasses & hat...at any rate...reading i can't always do. so sit w music, or w "the boss" dh, and the tube for a while then early bed. winter is more my reading stitching time. i have hard copy files too...last winter i cleaned those out. likes and want to do's change right along the way. i also cleaned out a lot of files on pc, political, investment, "interesting stuff"...and then there are the photos!! yah, i know if we don't read it, make it, use it, want it...then discard it...it needs to go.

before i became a construction bum i was a medical bum. moved often..for a variety of reasons,...because i could but mostly based on local fishing and hiking. but my motto always was "if it hadn't been worn, used, needed in previous 3yrs. it was disposed off"..continued for a few moves after joining the wandering construction family of dh employer...but not practicle when not all belongs to just me.

but i have been a consumate reader and collector of written word for my entire life. i read dictionaries, encyclopedeas, antique volumes... novels..poetry, even old how to books. i collect antique cookbooks..favs fr late 1800's, antique volumes of humour, poetry, novels. and antique sewing notions..tho here in the west i find fewer than i did in the east.

but, since there is clear & free passage throughout my home, even where i sit to read or stitch, i don't consider myself a hoarder.

lollollol....YET!!

.......sigh! back to owing...break over. ...:))
oops..forgot ..i also have a link saved sent fr russian chat friend. i am a long time lover of russian literature, he said wanted me to have access to some of his fav modern writers..ergo..i have link to english version of the digitized content of librar in moscow..:)) fun huh?!

Sounds like an interesting link.  I've read some books by Sergei Dovlatov in translation.  He was an immigrant driven from the Soviet Union and sadly drank himself to death in this country.  A very witty writer.

it is an excellent link. it is on my pc. the nxt time i am on it i will send it to you. tho...this time of yr..not on it often. upstairs is very hot...for me & the pc. we put an xtra fan in it then i set one...then a second small fan...helps..but it just over heats crashes...so ...like now, in from mowing, over heated belts..me & the pups in for a little break..they lay & pant...i sit & read or play on ipa...:))
