Spring  is in the air, our sewing rooms are tempting us while outdoor activities beckon.  How about a Sew Much Fun block to keep those sewing rooms company over the summer months?  Anything sewing room related would work, sewing machines, needle and thread, dress forms, the ideas are endless !!!  These block would be great for a wall quilt so embellishments could really add to your blocks and the size leaves plenty of room to add personal touches to the finished quilt.. Everyone would make 12 identical blocks (1 to keep and 11 to share).  Sign up by May 5th, blocks need to be to me by June 20th so they can be mailed back out by June30th.  This one will run a bit longer than the usual month so it will hopefully fit with busy Spring schedules.

This swap will be for beginner quilters and beyond.

SIZE: 6.5 inches un-finished blocks

NUMBER OF SQUARES: It takes 12 blocks for a quilt, make 12, keep one, send 11 in and you will get 11 back

FABRICS: Whatever fits the theme just make sure you use a quilt shop quality fabric ( NO SEE THROUGH FABRIC)

DESIGN:  Anything that fits the theme---- let's make this a fun quilt so take embellishments are fine, just make sure if you add some that the block can still be washable. It would be great if you sign your block in some way so everyone knows who they are from.

TECHNIQUE: pieced, paper pieced, applique, free form, touches of embroidery, embroidery machine.

SWAP METHOD: Centralized. That means your  blocks will be sent to me - ( send me a friend request so I can send you my address if you don't already have it.)

POSTAGE:Along with your blocks send me a STAMPED self-addressed FLAT RATE envelope. I will use this to send the blocks back to you.

SIGN UP DEADLINE:   May 5th .The goal is to have 12 joiners or more so that you will get back 11 different blocks.

SIGN UP:    To sign-up post a comment to this discussion and send me a friend request if I am not on your friends list.Once you are signed up I will message you my address and you can do the same through a MQP message. It is a good idea not to post your address in the discussion because anyone, even those not in the swap can see it.

MAIL IN DEADLINE:  ALL blocks must be in my hands by June 20th.  If you can get them done early, send them!

If you join and can not complete your blocks please notify me as soon as possible so the rest of the group is not waiting on your blocks. If life happens to throw a curve ball your way it is ok to cancel out, there's always next time! Remember to check back often for info and updates!!

If I have left anything out, or you have any questions,  please ask!

so?????? how is this coming along ???? anyone know?

Mary - have you mailed out the sewing blocks yet - if you have not - can you mail mine along with the mug rugs to her for me.  Carla has another set of the dresses she is also holding for me til I get back to AZ.  I will send $$ for postage - I can do etfr.  Let me know Thanks

Last word from Mary was that she would have her blocks completed in Mid-July. Any word on when we should expect them? I know there have been a couple of comments about the status but I don't see a reply. Has Mary been on lately? Just checking in again.

I wonder what is going on.....

Does anyone know Mary personally who could contact her? She hasn't posted for almost a month now. Was Carla able to reach her before? Is she maybe traveling or has something happened? Doesn't seem like her to just stop commenting and not give an update when the blocks are nearly 2 months over-due for shipping.

I tried to contact her by email. I am going to send her a letter now that I am back in town. I believe Mary Anne did actually talk to her and she said she had taken an extended vacation. not sure what that means for our blocks but it would have been nice had they been sent out prior to the trip. I will let you know if I get a response.

thank you all for hanging in there.

I know it's hard when you expect to get to use these blocks for something special.

I am wondering if something has happened to Mary. I feel sure that she would have posted something at this point if all was well.

I sent Mary a message on 5 August - this was the respose......Hi Mary Anne, I'm still off on vacation but will be home tomorrow and back on touch with the groups. We extended out traveling n were joined by a couple off kids n the grand kids. Long story short we decided the only way to get the kids off there phones m tablets was to declare an old fashion media free family trip. We kept one phone out all the rest were packed away until this evening. Turned out to be a really fun time but I am ready to get back home

I just sent her another message and I asked her to please please keep others in the loop - lets see if she responds........

My last message from Mary in July was that she had heat exhaustion, then she would be off to South Dakota in August.  Nothing since then.  That is all I know.

Carla, did you get a letter in the mail?

no, I've been out of town. but I know she has been contacted.

I also saw that the other swap (table runners)   was completed and it was started after this one..........getting ready to try again.

Mary Aldrich-Are you back in town? When can we expect to see our blocks being mailed? Not trying to be difficult but it has been about 6 weeks since you posted and we are all in the dark as to what is happening.

I think the way the swap has been handled is beyond inconsiderate. If there has been some emergency or illness to Mary or in her family, I am sorry and do understand why the communication to this group would not be a consideration. You have my apology. Any other reason for disappearing with no word and no communication, despite MONTHS of follow up from our group is simply not good enough. I would like to receive the blocks, as I already sent mine and paid for shipping for return. I am happy to coordinate sending out blocks if they are shipped to me. This whole experience has made me really question if I want to get involved in another swap again, but I know I would not choose to participate in anything Mary is coordinating going forward. For those of you who think I should not be posting this, that is your right. I just find this whole situation to be beyond ridiculous at this point and am completely frustrated with the lack of concern on behalf of the coordinator whom we trusted to handle things reasonably.

Please mail out the blocks to all who participated or, at the very least, send them back to the person who made them so they can choose what to do with them. Enough is enough already.
