June project:

Summer time is coming!!  For those of you patiently or impatiently waiting for summer how about turning those Summer thoughts to a new table topper or candle holder. Think spring gardens, hot Summer days, Fourth of July, picnics in the park and let your creative ideas come to life.

This swap will be for beginner quilters and beyond.

SIZE:   16" to 18"  square or round

DESIGN:  Anything that fits a summer theme, just take it easy on the embellishments or make sure if you add some that the topper is still washable. It would be great if you sign your project in some way ( on the back is great) so everyone knows who they are from.

TECHNIQUE: pieced, paper pieced, applique, free form, embroidery. Please be sure to use quilt shop quality fabric--no see through please!!

SWAP METHOD: Centralized. That means your project will be sent to me - send me a friend request so I can send you my address if you don't already have it.)

POSTAGE: Along with your project send me a STAMPED self-addressed  envelope. I will use this to send your new topper back to you.

SIGN UP DEADLINE:   June 10th .

SIGN UP:    To sign-up post a comment to this discussion and send me a friend request if I am not on your friends list. Once signed up is closed I will message you my address  through a MQP message. It is a good idea not to post your address in the discussion because anyone, even those not in the swap can see it.

MAIL IN DEADLINE:  ALL blocks must be in my hands by June 25th.  If you can get them done early, send them!

If you join and can not complete your project please notify me as soon as possible so I can remove you from the list. If life happens to throw a curve ball your way it is ok to cancel out, there's always next time! Remember to check back often for info and updates!!

If I have left anything out, or you have any questions,  please ask!

Mary, mine will be in the mail today.

Mary I did mail mine yesterday.  I need to check into a less expensive mailing method or will not be able to continue to swap.  Thank you for being our hostess.

Gayle your project has arrived! Very pretty!! Maybe next time you could go regular mail instead of Prority Mail, that should be less expensive for you and should not take much longer to get here.

Obviously with all the issues I had with my machine, I have not had an opportunity to work on this.  If you still want mine, it will not be ready for another week or so.  Is that OK?  Definitely not in your hands by the 25th of June.  And the machine is going back to the doc today....lots of nesting going on at the bobbin and no clue why!!!

Wilma it is fine if you send it. I was having the same bobbin problem so I still have mine to so as well as my machine is also at the doc and won't come back home till the end of the month. I just bought a replacement machine, have been thinking for the last couple of years that I really wished I had two so I could be stitching out a design and sewing at the same time. Early morning has been my usual sewing time and stitch withdrawal was really setting in, so with too much time on my hands I was browsing Ebay and came across a good deal on previously own Janome, after several messages back and forth with the person listing it it is on its way to my sewing room. It should arrive in about a week and then I will working on several projects to catch up.

Ok perfect. I have the center finished and will work on the rest. Hope within a week will get it in the mail. Let's hope all our machines start behaving.

Will check back for your next swap

Hmm we must be skipping a July project with all the machine issues.  Seems to be an epidemic.  I am sorry everyone is having machine problems.

Hi Gayle .... I just finished quilting my "project" and will mail it by this weekend.  Just have to add the binding and it is done.  I even had to take my machine back in this week to replace the bobbin holder ... hope that is it because I looked at the price of the "equivalent" machines and want "OH NO!".....Mary, my package should be in the mail no later than Saturday.  Have the grandkids this weekend, but will make a quick run!

Good morning ! Sorry I have been out of touch, made the mistake of going to an auction in 95 + temps and ended up with heat exhaustion!! Guess when you get to a certain age you just can't play all day in the sun without paying a price for it. Spent the last week recuperating and re-hydrating.  I did get my project finished up and will switch them around and get them in the mail.  I will be gone most of next week---off on a family trip and collecting some Row by Row patterns along the way. I'll be posting the August project toward the end of next week-----Thinking a thread catcher or fabric bowl set. Any thoughts as to a preference?

what is a thread catcher?

Thread catchers are a great addition to put next to your sewing machine to toss those pesky little thread pieces in that clutter around the sewing machine. Here are a couple of examples.........

The first  one hangs over the edge of your sewing table and has an opening to put scissors in the top part. The second one sits on the sewing sewing table. There are a lot of fun patterns for them, many are free. Just google thread catcher and the possibilities are endless!
