I am interested in starting a 2 1/2" wide strip x 44"-45" long (width on bolt) batik swap, but only want quilt store batiks, please. If interested reply.

It is interesting to go into a quilt store to look at the jelly rolls as I am amazed by the prices. So, why not do an exchange with other quilters. I love batiks, but hate to buy a quarter and each time its not wide enough. If I buy yardage then I have to buy a ton to get a variety. So. if your interested respond to trade.

Each person can send in 12 same batik strips: please make sure they are 2 1/2" wide by the width of a bolt of fabric (44"-45") plus add SASE for return of 12 different strips.

I will list the 12 recipients and will inform you all of the returned shipment. If more want to be included we will need 12 people to participate.

cheei, what is a jewel quilt?

It is a quilt in a day quilt demonstrated by Eleanor Burns on one of her shows.   She actually called it her Jewel Box Quilt. Here is a photo of it that I found on the internet. Here is the address for the twos videos. vimeo.com/4095265 and vimeo.com/4136481

oh, ok. that is a very old traditional pattern called jewel box. got a couple of other names too i think, as most old patterns do. in another arangement it is was also called "perkioman" frome the name of the town in pensylavania. and perkioman creeck ran by the foot of the hill i lived on.

i have wanted to make that quilt pattern from the earliest days of my quilting journey. still on the wanna do list, but right now it looks like i will run out of scraps doing the two small chicken quilts w friend. so need to start a whole new collection!

i guess since this discussion was about batik fabs, and your using the term "jewel" quilt in conjunction with...you know how some of the batiks just seem to shimmer & glow? anyway...thank you for taking the time this a.m. ..hugs for your day, may it be a good one.
Count me in sounds fun
